Outstanding performance and result today - buzzing for us all.

0-2 was 100/1 at Ladbrokes today, the missus had some change on that, been a happy Charoo household today.

Oxford's selection today should really fire up youngsters like Samuelson. He, Lee, Hendrie and Page need to get in Bilic's face and demand they get selected.

Under BFS, Nolan (who I thought did well today, and showed lots of commitment and character) would have been a starter instead of Oxford.

Early days but Valencia, Carroll, Song, Lanzini and Obiang still to come.

Would be happy if we just signed another striker and that is prob all we will do now.

Tend to agree that our squad is pretty reasonably staffed at the moment and I hope we don't go out and panic buy anyone.

Defence is fine (Tomkins, Burke & JOB provide decent RB cover)... the emergence of Oxford and hopefully the return of Song and fitness of Obiang means that DM is fine.

I think the strikers are fine, perhaps a cheap loanee but hopefully he wouldn't be needed on the pitch anyway.

Perhaps the only position lacking is AM / wide player... we could do with an upgrade on Jarvis but I would like to see Lanzini & Samuelsen introduced and given a chance.... I like us being the advocates of youth!

If we were still in EL things would be different but as it is we should be fine (well better than fine!)

Cech is a brilliant keeper and the only reason why he found himself on the bench at Chelsea is because they had one of the world's best keepers at the club in Courtois and he had to have first team football there rather than going on loan again. Courtois has about ten years on Cech so it was a no brainer.

Cech is class and will prove to be a great signing for Arsenal. Today just wasn't his finest hour.

Carroll will be a different prospect with Bilic in charge, i suspect that he will play in certain games that Bilic thinks will suit him. Carroll is a good player to have in our squad when he's fit.

Cech is well past his sell by date. These types of mistakes was frankly what got him sent to the bench at Chelski. He will be replaced soon as there will be more mistakes. I was very surprised Wenger signed him. Wait and see.

Had a chat with an Arsenal fan and a Tottenham one who plays in goal himself.

Both thought Cech is getting too much stick for his performance, and I tend to agree with them.

First goal was a result of an excellent free kick which fooled the Arsenal defence and left Cech little option but to come and try get it, second goal Zarate's body shape made him think he was going to hit it the opposite side to the one he did.

There are many, many things I love about today but probably the best thing for me was that we got the lead and locked them cunts out.

In short, we Arsenal'd them!

Just for the record, in the post match interview on Sky, Wenger actually said the words 'well done West Ham' and never at any point inferred the best side lost.

Of course Glenn, but we do have 2 excellent forwards injured, so I don't think the squad situation is as desperate as you do. Obviously you can't rely on Carroll, but watching us today, contrary to what ironsofcanada thought, we are more suited to a striker like Sakho, with pace and movement, than Carroll, who hopefully will just be used as an impact sub. A forward on loan is enough, because I'd be more than happy with Sakho, Zarate, Valencia & Carroll.

At right back, I thought Tomkins was excellent, would be nice to get a youngster in as back up, but I don't think it's desperate. CB we're well covered. If Song signs, along with Obiang getting fit, CM is fine, so personally I think attacking midfield is where we need to get in most, but I don't see it as desperate as you do. We have potentially 4 first team starters injured or not playing in Jenkinson, Song, Obiang and Valencia and still beat Arsenal away.

Told the wife we'd get thumped today. She doesn't usually bet on anything other than the National but went and had a fiver on us to win and a quid on 2-0. £160 back. Can't believe we were 80/1 for the 2-0.

And I notice Fordy hasn't posted since full time. Sums that cunt right up.

I think shooting Maiga will be a bigger mistake than Mannygate was.

The FA frowns on that sort of thing.

And it might adversely affect his resale value.

Really don't think Allardyce will ever get another job on the strength of today's performance.

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 0-2FT
We still have Obiang to come back too, so I am not too worried if we don't sign anyone else, but I'm sure we will. Great to see that Bilic is not afraid to play the youngsters if he believes they are good enough. Fwiw I think we'll be seeing more of Samuelsen before long. There was no future for these young players under BFS.

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 0-2FT
Agreed. The only negative for me from today was the bench. Bringing on Jarvis, Nolan and Maiga is not progress and they are three of the players who should be down the road IMO.
